Aquamarine is a type of beryllium known as‘beryl.' When a very small amount of elements are mixed in a beryl, various colors are produced and the light blue type created from the chemical reaction of the iron content is called ‘aquamarine.' Other types include the emerald (becoming green from the chemical reaction of chromium), the pink manganese and the morganite (color from the manganese). The stone has a beautiful, clear blue hue that reminds one of the blue ocean. It is also characteristic in that many aquamarine stones are transparent with very small amount of impurities.
